Followers

When I was first setting up the Three Ducks blog, I noticed there was a gadget you could add called 'Followers.' I didn't add it initially; however, when I noticed the feature on other blogs, I went back into layout and added this gadget. I have to confess, I have meant to but haven't gotten around to understanding how this gadget works.

I am thrilled to see my 'Followers' growing but am feeling very guilty that I have not acknowledged each and every one of you personally. I have however quickly visited your own blogs and am so impressed by what I see and have read. In time, I hope to send an email to let you know that I so happy that you find the Three Ducks blog worthy to follow.

I was wondering if someone might give me a quick explanation of the 'Followers' gadget and let me know what happens if I become a member, too. TIA!

EQ6 & Jo Morton Fabrics

As I have been preparing my Jo Morton fabric strips, I have also been scanning and preparing fabric swatches for My Fabric Library in EQ6. This is a great way to force me to finally tackle the job which I have been thinking about for months. I have almost 10 lines of fabric swatches prepped and most are now up in the fabric library. I have been playing with the fabrics a bit just to see how they look and have prepared some more test blocks to show you.

Starting from the left on the top row, the first block is made with Crimson & Clover fabrics and the block are the right is the Harmonies line. On the bottom row, the left block is made with Cinnamon & Spice and the right is Fairfax County. Isn't it amazing how the use of light, medium and dark fabrics affects the block design! This is the one of the great features of using EQ6 for your quilt designing; you can test the effects of your fabric choices before you have cut any fabric!

I have also quickly tested a few quilt layouts and here is one for interest sake.

I wanted to see how Jo's fabric would work in a circle design. I really would like to make a quilt using the 'Wheel of Fortune' block and here is one of its variations. I used fabrics from Cinnamon & Spice for the wheel and fabrics from Harmonies for the background. Oops, I just noticed I should have used EQ6's 'Fussy Cut' tool to line up the border fabric.

Seeing these Jo Morton fabrics in EQ 6 blocks is so exciting and I can hardly wait until I have scanned all the rest and can get busy doing some serious quilt designing.
