'The Blessings' Quilt Fabric Kit

Details about the 'The Blessings' Quilt Fabric Kit have now been placed in the shopping cart.  I have created a new category in the cart, 'Quilt Kits/Patterns,' and you can access that category along the shaded bar below the cart banner.  As well, it is listed in the Catalogue box at the top of the left column. Click on the category and then click on 'Bon Bon Designs.'

The kits offer you a choice between four fabrics that can be used for the quilt's border. The border fabric is included in the kit price and you need only send a message along with your order telling what border fabric you would like. To help make the decision easier, the four fabrics are displayed below the kit listing and you can click on the swatches for larger views - click on the fabric until the pop-up window appears which will give you the most detail.

I have also created four quick mock-ups using Paint Shop Pro to give you an idea of how the fabrics work together.  The finished quilt border is 6" wide and the finished appliqué "arches" are 4" long so only about 2 to 2½" of the border will be showing.

The Blessings Quilt - Update

I am trying very hard not to hyperventilate as I think about my kit's progress.  Oh, I am sure it will all come together - at the last minute!

Three Ducks will be offering the pattern for sale on its own ($24.95 CAD).  As well, there will be three or four complete kits offering the pattern, Seneca Shirtings for the block backgrounds, fabric for the appliqué pieces and fabric for the sashing and binding. (click 'read more' to continue)

Karen K. Stone Quilts CD

New to Three Ducks is The Electric Quilt Company's Karen K. Stone Quilts CD. This 'add-on' software came out during the end of the EQ5 era; however, like all EQ add-ons it runs perfectly on EQ6, too. I didn't think to bring this product in until my quilting friend, Kimala Thompson, asked if there was a program that offered the New York Beauty pattern. Well, my brain cells fired and I thought, 'Hey, I think EQ has something...' Well, wow, I wish I had brought this great little program in sooner. The ten quilt designs offered on this CD are fantastic! I was thrilled to see that one of my favourites, 'Mississipi Wheel of Fortune', is included. I would love to try making this using Jo Morton's fabrics - I bet it would be sensational.

Here's a peek at that quilt and two others available on the CD.

On the left is 'Mississipi Wheel of Fortune', in the centre is 'Indian Orange Peel' and on the right is Karen's famous design 'Cinco de Mayo'. I can picture all these quilts made with Jo Morton fabrics. Karen's CD also includes another New York Beauty variation called 'Lady Liberty Goes to Hawaii' as well as the more traditional 'Pine Burr'.

In addition to Kim's program, I have one more and it is available in the cart; however, I will definitely up the ante with my next EQ order (I want one!)

Stash Fall 2009

My Electric Quilt order arrived yesterday and, in addition to restocking EQ6 and its companion books, I have brought in a couple of new software packages.  The latest Stash program, Stash Fall 2009, is now up in the Three Ducks shopping cart. This editon offers over 4200 fabrics from 26 manufacturers from Andover to Windham Fabrics and all the wonderful companies in between.

Andover Fabrics presents 19 lines on this edition including three Jo Morton lines: Stafford County, Crimson & Clover and Harmonies. Stash is a stand-alone product that can be linked to EQ6 or EQ5 offering you the ability to design with the latest or soon to be released fabrics . Not sure what you can do with a Stash program? Well, explore the possibilities with a Three Ducks 'mini-tour' by visiting this page on the Three Ducks home website (where it all began...LOL)

Indigo Berries by Jo Morton

Indigo Berries has arrived and is now available in the Three Ducks shopping cart .What a beautiful line of fabrics!

I am so impressed with the quality of Andover's Jo Morton line of fabrics. Line after line the quality never varies and for a internet shop owner this is so important. I applaud Andover Fabrics for maintaining its high standard especially during these tough economic times. Visit the Indigo Berries cart page for greater detail and print scale by clicking on the swatches until you get to the large pop-up window.

'The Blessings' Quilt Pattern Has Arrived!

Robyn Falloon's pattern for her beautiful quilt has arrived at Three Ducks!  As I mentioned in earlier updates, I will be selling the pattern alone and included in a kit featuring all Jo Morton fabric.

Last Sunday with the help of two quilting friends, Linda Gant and her daugher Jayna deRoon, fabric cutting got underway. We managed to get through 116 bolts and I have increased that figure to 147 bolts since then. There are another 28 bolts to go plus 'Indigo Berries' will be arriving by Wednesday! Hurray! This will add another 14 fabrics to the kit.

'The Blessings' quilt pattern and kit will be placed in the shopping cart and activated on Sunday, February 14 at 9:00 am PST (Noon, EST). I think Valentine's Day is a most appropriate date!

Shopping at Three Ducks

Just a gentle reminder for my American and International visitors -  Three Ducks on a Roof is a Canadian online quilt shop. Fabric is sold by the metre which is slightly over 39" in length. Fabric is also more expensive here in Canada due to three major reasons: 1) we must order through a fabric distributor, 2) the dollar exchange, 3) custom charges and federal taxes. As a result, the retail price of Jo Morton fabric at Three Ducks is $15.50/metre.

Fabric in the Three Ducks Shopping Cart is purchased in half metre increments; therefore, the price you see in red below the fabric number is the half metre price.  If you read the description beside the fabric swatch, it does mention in bold that the fabric is $15.50/metre. When ordering fabric, placing a "1" in the quantity box means you would like a half metre, placing a "2" means a full metre, placing a "3" means 1.5 metres, etc.

Jo Morton Restocks & New Fabric

I was back at my fabric distributor on the last Friday in January. My goal was to find a suitable Jo Morton fabric for the sashing in The Blessings Quilt kit.  While on the hunt, I managed to pick up pick up three fabrics from the Classics line which I was sold out of.
Starting from the left, A3794-B, A3794-K and A3798-R are once again available in the Three Ducks shopping cart on the Classics page. The black A3794-K is one of my favourite Jo Morton fabrics - it is so rich in appearance.

As well, I picked up A3787-L which is from the Toast line; for whatever reason, this fabric was not available when I originally placed my order. It is a lovely print and can be found here.

(Hmm, there is something buggy with Blogger right now as I am having trouble with sizing the images - I will have to try again later)
