I would like to introduce you to my friend Jackee Thaysen. Jackee only lives a few blocks from me and I dropped by her quilting studio this afternoon and it was Jackee who pulled the winning name from the duck in my EQ software draw. I first met Jackee two years ago at a Sunshine Coast Quilters' Guild retreat and she is a blast! Jackee is also a fantastic longarm quilter and quilting teacher. She has been quilting for 25 years and teaching for 10. I recommend a visit to Jackee's website,
Quilt Lovers Guide , which offers a wealth of information about quilting; and, visit her
blog, too.
Jackee also holds retreats at her West Sechelt home and can accommodate up to six quilters. She says, "I provide all the food, clean up, and even pour your wine. You can just sew, eat, sleep, (laugh), sew, eat and have SEW much fun!!" Jackee has a beautiful little suite for quilters to stay in and I know because I called it my home for a month until I found my present abode.
Now, here is a close up view of that lovely appliqué quilt beside Jackee. It is the work of a Sechelt quilter and Jackee had finished quilting it earlier in the day. You can well image the amount of work that went into that quilt and so you don't have just anyone quilt it - you have someone you know will do a fantastic job and Jackee did just that. Jackee has two locations in the lower mainland were she picks up and drops off quilts:
The Cloth Shop on West 10th Ave in Vancouver and
Creative Edge Quilting & Sewing on the Old Dollarton Rd in North Vancouver. Jackee has offered to quilt my projects; however, that means I would have to actually make something. Hmm, I guess I should stop blogging.
(By the way, that is April the border collie beside Jackee. April and I have become buddies as I do the dog-sitting when Jackee heads to Vancouver Island to visit her grown children and their children. I've been teaching April how to foot wrestle but I don't think Jackee knows that, yet. Sssshhh!)
